Miss Asia Pacific International is a beauty pageant headquartered in Manila, Philippines. It is the oldest such pageant in Asia and it is currently headed by Jacqueline Tan-Sainz

The current title holder is Chaiyenne Huisman from Spain, crowned on October 9, 2019.

HISTORY

Miss Asia Pacific International was founded in 1968 as Miss Asia Quest by a group of professionals, and civic-minded businessmen. It was originally a non-stock, non-profit corporation with the principal intention of promoting peace, goodwill, trade, and tourism among participating nations—in Asia, the Middle East, and the Pacific.

The contest was first open to contestants from Asia and Oceania and served as a regional pageant for delegates within the Asia Pacific region. The title was changed to Miss Asia Pacific Quest in 1985 when contestants from countries in the Americas that border the Pacific Ocean were allowed to participate and compete. In 2005, the current title of Miss Asia Pacific International was chosen and contestants from all over the world were allowed to participate in the competition.

The Philippine Cycling Association held a Miss Asia pageant in 1965. Angela Filmer of Malaysia won the event, which took place in Manila, Philippines. However, this is not officially recognized as the first edition of the Miss Asia Pacific International.

In 2005, winner Leonora Jimenez Monge from Costa Rica was dethroned after participating in the rival Miss World contest and runner-up Yevgeniya Lapova from Russia was given the title instead. The pageant was then suspended after the conclusion of the 2005 edition.

The pageant took its present form in 2005, when the name was changed to Miss Asia Pacific International, to include countries all over the world.

The 37th Miss Asia Pacific International beauty contest was not held in 2008. Due to the lack of sponsors, participants, and popularity, Miss Asia Pacific International will most likely to be postponed to an unknown date and year. It is very likely, the pageant will not be held for another 5 to 10 years or longer.

The organizers of Miss Asia Pacific International clarified that they are not connected with the newly formed beauty pageant that is going to be held in Korea ((Miss Asia Pacific World).

In 2016, the pageant was revived and the winner of Miss Asia Pacific International 2016 was Tessa le Conge of Netherlands.

MAIN PAGEANT

The competition is open to young women aged 18 to 27 with a minimum height of 5 feet 7 inches.
