Miss Africa Continent, also known as Miss Africa Continental, is an African beauty pageant, founded in 2014 by Lionel Neo Mashishi in Johannesburg, South Africa. 

The current Miss Africa Continent is Anita Shologu from South Africa, crowned on December 24, 2020 during a virtual final due to the pandemic. 

HISTORY

Miss Africa Continent, also known as Miss Africa Continental, is an African beauty pageant, founded in 2014 by Lionel Neo Mashishi in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The objective of this pageant is to empower young African women so they can tell African stories from women’s perspective.The main objective of Miss Africa pageant is to encourage interaction between African countries at various levels and to become an educational platform and empowering tool for young African women to be inspired.

Ghanaian’s representative at the maiden edition of Miss Africa Continent Rebecca Asamoah emerged as the first ever winner.

MAIN PAGEANT

The competition is open to young women aged 18 to 27 with a minimum height of 5 feet 7 inches.

Miss Africa features directors in African countries, who elects a delegate for this contest.Each year, about thirty candidates are fighting to win the crown.

They are evaluated according to several criteria :

– Swimsuit Parade
– Traditional Outfits Parade
– Evening Gown Parade
